Getting started

Set it up once. Your home runs itself.

From your first address entry to automations running quietly in the background — here's how Roost comes together.

Step 01

Create your home

Start by entering your address. Roost pulls real estate listing data to understand what makes your home unique — square footage, year built, systems, and layout. It uses Google Maps to get a picture of your neighborhood: nearby services, commute routes, and local context that shapes how your home is managed.

Step 02

Invite your household

Add the people who live in your home. Each member gets their own account with their own view. You control exactly what they can access — a teenager can see chores and the kitchen, but only you can view the finances. Permissions are set per feature, per person, so everyone sees what's relevant to them.

Step 03

Connect your home documents

Link a Google Drive folder and Roost indexes everything inside it. Appliance manuals in PDF, spreadsheets tracking home improvement projects, Google Docs with notes from your plumber or electrician — all of it becomes searchable from anywhere. No more hunting through email threads or filing cabinets.

Step 04

Import your recipes

Paste a link to any recipe website and Roost imports your saved collection. It reads the ingredients and maps them to your pantry — so it always knows what you can cook tonight and what needs to go on the shopping list. Your kitchen stops being a guessing game.

Step 05

See everything at once

Your dashboard brings your whole home into a single view. The weather outside, your commute to work, when your favorite team plays next, which lights are still on, what maintenance is coming due. No more switching between five different apps to get a picture of your day.

Step 06

Ask anything

Roost knows your home and your household. Ask how your HVAC system works and it pulls from your actual unit's manual. Ask when a family member should be home and it gives you a real answer. It's not a generic assistant — it's one that understands the specific house you live in.

Step 07

Let automations do the rest

Set up rules that run your house in the background. Lights dim at 9pm. A grocery reminder goes out every Thursday. The HVAC pre-cools thirty minutes before anyone arrives home. Once they're set, you stop thinking about them — and your home just works.
